Just Curious . . .

So . . . in the upper righthand corner of this piece is a page out of a magazine called Physical Culture from the 1930's. The article was titled Should Married Women Date Other Men? What was goin' on in the 30's that I am unaware of?? Can someone please enlighten me. I am a smidge perplexed.

in the 1930s? sheesh. I can't imagine that 'open marriage' was trendy back then. It's not even common enough TODAY to find an article like that, at least in mainstream articles. Too funny, huh? Let me know if you find out anything more. Sorry I have no pearls of wisdom on this topic.

What was going on??? Fun and Games? adventure? Triangles? The roaring Twenties still roaring, the first questions of doubt, Men at war, women alone in the work force...Hum I don't know?

The twenties and thirties were laden with decadent behavior. After reading a few F.Scott Fitzgerald novels, Hemingway and seeing Chicago, Pennies from Heaven I realized that throughout time, people in Western society have not really changed all that much!
I do love this work Michelle! oh yeah ... and a friend of mine in VT found this article from the 20s which addressed spanking wives for such behavior and how that helped ones marraige! Sacre Bleu!omondieu!
