Illustration Friday: Opposite
This weeks Illustration Friday theme is opposite. This piece is titles Abigail. I fell in love with this image the second I set my eyes upon it at a flea market. I love her lacy collar and very prim expression. The juxtaposition of her against this very racy and provocative background that is so opposite from what she seems to represent is fantastic. Almost like all of her secret desires are being exposed, but she has no idea, because it is all going on behind her. If she turns around, she is going to blush for sure!

This is lovely!
Assault on Victorian sensibilities never looked so good, beautiful – both image and context.
This is beautiful...I love the layers & the mixture between the old monochrome photograph & more modern coloured illustration...I know what you mean about falling in love with old photographs...sometimes I think there's something in the eyes!

Very pretty, it's a lovely piece.
This Abigail would like to know if your 'Abigail' is for sale? If she is, could you email me? I like it very much and it is rather fitting!
Thank You!
;) Abbie
Very romantic. These opposites come together beautifully.
hi michelle! great piece!!
beautiful!!
Very pretty image, love looking at it! In addition, you created an interesting message... =)
Beautiful collage and great illo. She may be prim but there's something really interesting and sweet and appealing about her too. Who is she?
This is a great combination of images. Abigail has a "secret smile" on her face, it seems...perhaps she is dreaming of torrid love, or perhaps she is keeping her passion a secret. This works so well on a visual level, and then gives us lots of stuff to think about:>
Beautiful piece...and it looks like I'm not the only one who thinks so! :) I saw you listed on the Aug list of vendors for Felt Club. I so wish I could be there. Very cool! Have a great week girl.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE WONDERFUL COMMENTS! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your kind words!
I will be at the Felt Club in August! I can't wait!! If you are in LA make sure to check out the vendors there! They are all super talented and diverse. I am so excited to sell there, but also to do some shopping. . . .
Beautiful showing two different worlds - or? The lovely lady seems to have secrets?
